Pricing

Proxylity bills for UDP Gateway as a subscription in your AWS account and is available through the AWS Marketplace. You pay for usage, including the Listeners you configure and the packets passing to and from your configured Destinations. Itemized charges appear on your AWS bill.

Pricing Element Price
Listeners $0.00139 per port-hour, roughly $1 per month each.
Packets Free tier, then starting at $1.25 per million 1KB packets.

Packets

The number of 1KB or smaller packets delivered to your destination(s), plus the packets generated in response. Packets larger than 1KB count as multiple packets based on their size in KB. For example, a 1.5KB packet counts as 2. Packets are counted each time they are delivered to a destination, so if a listener is configured with multiple destinations each packet will be counted multiple times - once for ingress to each destination, and once for egress of each response generated (if any).

The first 1 million packets per month are free.

Tier (# Packets) Price
0-1M Free
Next 99M $1.25 per million packets.
Next 900M $1.12 per million packets.
Next 9,000M $0.99 per million packets.
Next 90,000M $0.86 per million packets.
Next 900,000M $0.73 per million packets.
Above 1T $0.60 per million packets.

Listener

Each Listener incurs a per-hour charge of $0.00139, which amounts to roughly $1 per month. This charge is the same regardless of the configuration of the listener (number of destinations, allowed networks, etc.). Hourly charges are not pro-rated, so if your Listener is present for any period in a given hour you'll be charged the full amount for that hour.

Bulk/Pre-Paid Purchases

Contracts for pre-paid packet credits can be executed in AWS marketplace. This may be a good option for you if you have a high and steady (or predictable) volume of traffic to your listeners. By pre-purchasing credits you may be able to access tiers with lower per-unit pricing.

Consider this example: If your account handles a steady flow of 100M packets per month you can pay monthly, or purchase credits for a year (1,200M packets) in advance and realize a significant discount:

Payments Cost for a Year
Monthly 12 × $123.75 = $1,485.00
Pre-Paid Year 1M free + (99M × $1.25) + (900M × $1.12) + (200M × $0.99) = $1,329.75
Savings ($1,485.00 - $1,329.75) = $155.25, or 10.45%

If you're interested in pre-paid credits, please check the contract offers in AWS Marketplace or contact sales with questions.

Enterprise

Enterprise customers with specialized requirements can work directly with our team for tailored solutions including:

Enterprise solutions maintain the same functionality, scalability, performance, and multi-region durability as the core service while addressing specific organizational needs around security, compliance, or scale.

Pricing varies based on configuration including port allocation, committed traffic volume, regionality, and SLA requirements. Enterprise engagements typically start at $10,000 per month and are purchased as custom offers in the AWS Marketplace.

Example Scenarios

RADIUS Authentication and Accounting

A network services provider implements RADIUS authentication and accounting with two separate UDP Gateway listeners:

Monthly calculation:

Component Calculation Monthly Total
Auth listener (inbound) 10 req/sec × 60 sec × 60 min × 24 hrs × 30 days 25.92M packets
Auth listener (outbound) 25.92M responses 25.92M packets
Accounting listener (inbound) 100 req/sec × 60 sec × 60 min × 24 hrs × 30 days 259.2M packets
Accounting listener (outbound) 259.2M responses 259.2M packets
Total packets 570.24M

Syslog Aggregation

A medium-sized infrastructure aggregates syslog messages from servers and network devices:

Monthly calculation:

Component Calculation Monthly Total
Inbound syslog messages 50 devices × 10 msg/min × 60 min × 24 hrs × 30 days 21.6M packets
Outbound responses None (write-only protocol) 0 packets
Total packets 21.6M

Remote Sensor and Telemetry

An IoT platform manages 1,000 geographically distributed sensors reporting telemetry data:

Monthly calculation:

Component Calculation Monthly Total
Inbound telemetry packets 1,000 devices × 1 pkt/min × 60 min × 24 hrs × 30 days 43.2M packets
Outbound acknowledgments 43.2M acks 43.2M packets

Frequently Asked Questions

How am I billed?

Proxylity UDP Gateway appears as a line item on your AWS bill. Charges are based on your actual usage each month—listener hours and packet processing. There are no upfront costs or minimum commitments unless you choose a pre-paid contract.

What counts as a packet?

A packet is any UDP datagram delivered to a Destination or sent as a response. Packets up to 1KB count as one packet. Larger packets count as multiple packets based on their size in KB, rounded up. For example, a 1.5KB packet counts as 2 packets, and a 3.2KB packet counts as 4 packets.

Why am I charged for both inbound and outbound packets?

You're charged for packets delivered to destinations (inbound) and for reply packets sent back to remote clients (outbound). This reflects the actual processing work performed—receiving, routing, invoking destinations, and transmitting responses. If your protocol is receive-only (no replies), you only pay for inbound packet processing.

How does pricing work with multiple destinations?

If a listener is configured with multiple destinations, each inbound packet is delivered to all configured destinations. You're charged once per destination for each packet. For example, if you have 3 destinations and receive 1 million packets, you're charged for 3 million packet deliveries (plus any response packets).

What AWS charges will I incur beyond UDP Gateway?

You'll incur standard AWS charges for the destination services you use (Lambda invocations, SQS requests, Kinesis PUT records, etc.). UDP Gateway invokes these services on your behalf using IAM roles you configure. Review the pricing for your specific destination services to understand total cost.

Is there a free tier?

Yes. The first 1 million packets each month are free. This includes both inbound packets to destinations and outbound response packets. This free tier is sufficient for development, testing, and many low-volume production workloads.

How do pre-paid contracts work?

Pre-paid contracts let you purchase packet credits in advance at discounted rates. Credits are applied to your monthly packet usage automatically. This can provide significant savings for predictable, high-volume traffic. Pre-paid contracts are available through AWS Marketplace custom offers. Contact sales for details.

Can I use UDP Gateway across multiple AWS accounts?

Each AWS account requires its own UDP Gateway subscription. Listeners and destinations are account-specific. If you need centralized billing or cross-account access patterns, contact our enterprise team to discuss options.

What happens if I delete a listener mid-month?

You're charged for listener hours based on when the listener exists. If you delete a listener mid-month, you stop incurring hourly charges immediately (charged through the last partial hour). There are no early termination fees or minimum time commitments for listeners.

How can I estimate my monthly costs?

Estimate based on: (1) number of listeners x $1/month each, and (2) total monthly packets (inbound + outbound) using the tiered pricing table above. For example, 5 listeners processing 10 million packets per month would cost approximately $5 (listeners) + $11.25 (packets after free tier) = $16.25, plus AWS service costs for your destinations.

Do you offer academic or non-profit discounts?

We evaluate requests for academic institutions and qualifying non-profit organizations on a case-by-case basis. Please contact sales with details about your organization and use case.
