What counts as a packet
Four rules, no surprises.
Most workloads are simple. These rules explain the rest.
Inbound and replies
Datagrams delivered to your destinations and replies sent back to clients both count. A receive-only protocol pays for inbound only.
Each destination
Each inbound packet goes to every destination on the listener, and you pay once per destination. One million packets to three destinations is three million deliveries.
Larger packets
Up to 1 KB counts as one packet. Larger packets count by size, rounded up: 1.5 KB counts as 2, and 3.2 KB as 4.
Blocked traffic
Traffic blocked by client restrictions, or dropped by a FilterExpression, is never charged.
Rates
The more you send, the less each packet costs.
Your first listener is included in the free tier. Additional listeners are $0.00139 per hour, about $1 a month each, whether or not they receive traffic. Packet rates step down as monthly volume grows.

Progressive tiers: only the packets within each tier are charged at that tier's rate. Batching reduces destination API calls, not the billable packet count.

Understanding your bill
Why are replies counted?
Replies are real processing work: receiving, routing, invoking destinations and sending responses. If your protocol is receive-only, you pay for inbound packets alone.
What AWS charges come on top of Proxylity?
Standard charges for your destination services, such as Lambda invocations, SQS requests, Kinesis records and S3 puts, are billed separately by AWS. Proxylity invokes them with IAM roles you configure, and batching reduces the number of requests.
What does a listener cost when it's idle?
Your first listener is included in the free tier. Additional listeners cost $0.00139 per hour regardless of traffic or configuration. Hours are not pro-rated: any part of an hour is a full hour. Deleting a listener stops charges after the current hour.
When does the free tier reset?
The first million packets, including inbound deliveries and outbound replies, are free each calendar month and reset on the first. Your first listener is included too. That covers development, testing and many low-volume production workloads.
Buying
How does billing work through AWS Marketplace?
Charges are consolidated onto your existing AWS bill. There is no separate Proxylity invoice or payment method. Usage is metered in your AWS account and reported at the end of each billing period.
Can I use Proxylity across multiple AWS accounts?
Each AWS account needs its own subscription because listeners and destinations are account-specific. Enterprise supports multi-account configurations and centralized billing.
Changes
How often does pricing change?
Pricing can change with market conditions and AWS Marketplace policies. Marketplace requires 90 days' notice for any increase, and decreases take effect immediately.
